St. Gregory Catholic Church Moniya, which began as a little community of faithful in a household at Barrack's Road in Moniya, grew to a point at which it became an Out-station of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Agbowo on September 3rd, 1998 The out station received pastoral attention from Rev. Fr. Gaetan Theriault. M. Afr, and Rev. Fr. Jean-Pierre Chevrolet, who were the Parish Priests of the mother Church at various times, up till the year 2000.
During Fr. Chevrolet's tenure, the initial church building was embarked on at the present location of the Church at the Sawmill area of Moniya along the busy Moniya-Iseyin road, in Akinyele Local Government.
The Church took off at Sawmill on August 8, 2001. Rev. Frs. Cyriaque Mounkoro (Parish Priest), Jean Kamango and Felix Kamunenge then took charge, with a lot of efforts made towards nurturing the out station onto its maturity.
On Monday, November 9th, 2009, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ibadan, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Felix A. Job upgraded St. Gregory Catholic Church, Moniya, into a full Parish. The first substantive Parish Priest in charge since 2009 was Rev. Fr. Achulike Osuji, CSSP.
